A bedroom with really unique finishing touches

Bedroom Accents

If you’re looking to instantly boost character and comfort in your room, we’d suggest starting with soft furnishings. These accents are like the icing on the cake of your bedroom decor, literally the final layer on the bed and floor. Working in coordination, a throw pillow, throw blanket, and throw rug do wonders to aesthetically complete the room’s decor. They’re not just for display, ideally these accents should be soft and cuddle-able.

Basic Bedding

For us the stars of the show when it comes to the bed are the soft furnishings, discussed above. We suggest keeping the bedding very simple to act as a base layer on which to build these more expressive accents. A crisp white cotton sheet always feels fresh — that’s what luxury hotels use, so that should be good enough for home, no? Feel free to choose one with a decorative element like a stripe around the perimeter or a scalloped edge or eyelet detail. The most important part is quality – we recommend high- quality cotton that’s soft and durable like Egyptian or Supima in thread count 300 - 500 (anything higher isn’t noticeable). Natural cotton sheets feel better on the skin, stay cool to the touch, and look crisp on the bed.

Bedside Table Accents

Many times bedside tables are an afterthought, but paying attention to this aspect of bedroom decor can really enhance your life. Many bedside table accents have a purpose, whether that’s utility like a lamp, a water glass or a jewelry dish, or to induce relaxation and calm, like a candle, a flower vase or picture frame. Given these are the first and last things you see every day, they should also offer some sort of aesthetic value.

Bedroom Wall Decor

Decorating a bedroom with art or other wall hangings helps to enhance the mood you’re looking to create, be that warmth or calming. Bedroom wall decor is a chance to make the room feel more personal. You should feel a connection to the art, even if it’s just that you love the colors or it makes you feel good. That’s a huge part of what makes the room your own.

Happy Colors

If you’re looking for a boost of energy, bedroom wall decor in vibrant, happy colors is the way to go. The effect works even in small doses if you’re afraid a bigger piece might be too much. The idea is simply to be enough to put a smile on your face every time you see the wall art.

Grounding Neutrals

Bedroom wall art (and frames) in neutral shades of brown, beige and gold can feel grounding thanks to their association with nature. As an added benefit, monochromatic compositions may dull your senses or make you sleepy — perfect for a bedroom if you ask me!
